the Small Ghosts Wander around Town

Halloween 10,31

~The Christian festival that people thanks to a good harvest and get rid of evil spirits~

The Celtic Thanksgiving Day brought about this event. In addition, originally it was held by Anglo-Saxons. It is familiar as a event that children wearing a pretty, horror costume and visiting someone’s house with a call “Trick or treat!” and getting some sweets. However some people go to a cemetery and light a candle. It looks like Japanese “Bon”.

Costumes

Children wear various costumes of horror stuff for example a ghost, bat, witch, Dracula and so on.

Originally, people thought that the spirits that came back to our world are evil, so they wear horror costumes in order to surprise them. However, these days, they tend to wear pretty costumes too for example a fairy, vegetable and so on. I think that means the popularization of Halloween.

By the way

・Some people place a pumpkin called Jack-o’-Lantern in the entrance because people think that it get rid of evil spirits and draw happiness.

・Some people in Russia cannot take part in this event because they believe in their religion peculiar to that district enthusiastically.

・In 1990s, Japanese started to hold this event too because there is a scene that hold it in the famous film “E.T”.

THE GREEN MILE

Steven Spielberg moved by this movie too! ?

When I was primary school student that still don’t know everything, I was shocked by this movie. We usually recognize that the capital punishment is to kill a condemned criminal by a state, but, in fact, to kill them is the work of person. I wonder if what they think when they send a criminal to the electric chair.

In 1996, the novel THE GREEN MILE (written by Stephen Edwin King) is published in America. That novel was made into a movie later and in 2000, that movie was shown in Japan too. THE GREEN MILE means a way that the condemned criminals pass on when they go to the place of execution. The story begins with an encounter between the person who work at a prison Paul (Thomas Jeffrey Hanks) and the condemned criminal John (Michael Clarke Duncan).

John was sent to prison because he killed twin sisters he has an ability to cure someone’s illness or wound so he begun to doubt his clime and suspect that he wanted to help dying twin sisters.but he was so kind and pure so Paul was thinking that he is odd. But, one day, he noticed that Polices conflicted between their duty as a police and the feeling as a person but the day when they must send him to the electric chair was drawing near・・・

People should not hurt each other” John said in this movie. I could reconfirm difficulty of to help someone and vainness of person’s life.

Please see this movie and feel sad and painful.

My Good Memory

This year’s summer vacation, I didn’t have a part time job. And I didn’t hang out with my friends because my friend of NUFS had already visited to their home town immediately and my old friends didn’t visit to their parents home when I visited to my home so I spend almost all my time watching TV at home ( or at my parents home ). But though I was lazy, I could make a good memory that I went to fishing to Hamanako with my father.

I like fishing so I have been going to fishing every year since I was in primary school. But last year I studied hard in order to enter a university that I want to attend so I gave up going to fishing so we were looking forward to that day. We had to wake up earlier than usual because we can catch a fish much than usual in early morning. But we could wake up before the alarm ring.

4:00am, the sun was still raising, the road was quiet because there is no cars. Now, I live in the apartment near by a superhighway so that situation had a strange feel. “ Was there that building ? Was there that road?” It is only half a year since I moved to Nisshin but I noticed that I forgot the state of my hometown and was disappointed at my poor memory.

When we arrived at Hamanako, a lot of fisher had already caught a fish so we started to fish with great enthusiasm. Then, we are catching fish as fast as we could get our lines in the water. Finally, we got a big catch of horse mackerel and blow fish!! We were happy and promised to visit to here again. By the way, then we were thoroughly tanned. My suntan is almost faded but the mark of my list watch is still remaining.

Sport? Play?

Do you know Kabaddi? Kabaddi is a team-sport of South Asia (especialy it prospared in India, Bangladesh) and has been adopting as an offcial event of Asian Olympic.
It is something like a tag, so players have to run through the whole game. And there is a rule that players have to shout "KABADDI!!" repeatedly when they attack the oppounent.
I think that interesting game is hard but that is a most suitable sport for unhealthy children nowaday.
